This ” Classic ” Shirt was actually reproduced in 1995 (by GDM), but the one being offered here is the Genuine / Authentic Vintage-Original! Definitely one of the Coolest-Ever! Grateful Dead ” Opie ” designs of all-time – and certainly one of the most appropriate ever for the one & only Big Apple! – Steal Your Face! – New York City Skyscrapers! On the Shirt front you have Taxi driving Skeleton giving two Dancing Bears a ride to the Dead Show whilst cruising through the rose laden streets of New York City! This is sure to be a Long-Strange-Trip indeed… As the the Lightning Bolt designed Taxi is ” On Tour ” and has ” Dead ” right-on as its License Plate! Above the Taxi ” New York City ” is written in a funky purple script that contrasts nicely with the vibrant tie dye and checkered borders. On the Shirt back… ” Grateful Dead ” has the decibel level hitting the oranges and yellows, as ” Madison Square Garden ” is made up of the Starry-Night the Taxi is driving off into – complete with yellow Lightning Bolts! Blasting out of the two exhausts!! It looks like this Taxi is definitely Dead-Tour Experienced! And is on its way to yet another night of the’90 MSG run with the Tour Dates on the pavement, and even a checkered Steal Your Face! Blowing away in the wind. 90 GDM Original Tour Shirt!!! Pit to Pit = 22″ Length = 28″ As this is a used vintage-worn (distressed/lightly-distressed) good condition clothing item – here are the issues that stand out to my eye upon very close inspection : >>> seven (7) small-medium sized holes on shirt; 3 on front & 4 on back (please see photos). >>> collar fraying (see photos). >>> missing secondary support (decorative) stitching on shoulders & back collar (see photos). >>> staining/soiling on shirt top collar area (see photos). >>> fading/cracking of design image emblems (see photos). >>> fading of shirt material fabric dyes (see photos). >>> ink on shirt tag (see photos). As looking back here now 20-Years! Later – weren’t These! The Days’ in hindsight…– and this time… Bobby Weir – Billy Kreutzmann – Phil Lesh – Mickey Hart – joined by… Jimmy Herring & Joan Osborne – Rob Baracco & Jeff Chimenti. And, you betcha – as we were All! Heck, as I even remember flying cross-county to see both of the Jones Beach Shows – when we caught word that the Boys were going to be playing both Acoustic & Electric Sets!!! And, how could any East Coast / Mid-Atlantic and/or Upstate run of Show be completed without… I mean hey, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center was long-forgotten by the Dead Fan Faithful, as the ” Last Chance ” to ever be invited there was in the Mid-’80’s… Hence, Bobby’s Legendary Don’t Hang Off The Balcony!!! ” on-stage comments to a Rabid & Over-Enthusiastic Dead Fan on the 1985 Summer Tour ” 20-Years So Far Grateful Dead run. But, here we were once again – and though there was nothing good about having Jerry gone, the one single thing that changed that was indeed a’ plus’ was that the Band could again play the smaller & much-much more intimate Venues, no longer being billed as ” The Grateful Dead “. And, for Die-Hard Dead Fans… A Trip back to SPAC!!! Was indeed a Huge-Bonus!! And, for the occasion of this June 20, 2003 SPAC Show by ” The Dead ” – Richard Biffle himself was involved in the creation of this ” SPAC ” Venue-Specific Tour Shirt… And here indeed it is! Bright, Tie Dyed, and naturally… Red, White & Blue! – with a Patriot riding Horseback with a 1776 Style American Flag held high & proudly! In the design image background, and Bright Red Roses!
