Grateful Dead 1995 Spring Tour Shirt – created by Dan Morris! Too bad Dan didn’t make more Official Tour Shirts for the Band – seriously… And, if they would have kept touring past 1995 – he might have! But, on this one — wow did he hit the mark. In making a Grateful Dead Tour Shirt – just like we like’em! In the fashionable look. I mean here we have… A Dead Fan Skeleton playing the Bongos! But, one quick look at the photos, and you will see that this-one is way more than that! As this is a Spiral-Eyed! & Cigarette Smoking Skeleton with even a Fancy Cigarette Holder! – wearing a Top Hat with a Rose!! There weren’t too many Dead Shirts featuring’ Smoking’? ! ? The’89 Summer Tour ” Smoking Keyboard Skeleton ” Tee is the only one that I can even think of? You know, right off the top of my Dead Head!! And, just-like in the Good Ol’ Daze of the Grateful Dead Parking Lot! — this Rhythm Devil of a Skeleton has gathered some Fans fast! – a Spiral-Eyed Lizard & a Skull! – and even a Crescent Moon too! The scene here on this Dead Tour Tee! Oh & yeah too – as how could I almost forget… This is a Grateful Dead Steal Your Face! Brand pair of Bongos – with a Steal Your Face! In Red, White & Blue right on the front! Check-out the colorful & exquisite detail! All over the design on this Dan Morris Masterpiece… And some serious! Detail on the’ framed’ border. It’s almost Native American and/or Southwestern in the printed design… But, when you look inside – there are Skulls, Eyes, Peace Signs… And even Dancin’ Bears! In this brilliant pattern. And, look at the ” Grateful Dead ” font on the back! So different, unique & cool… Unlike any other, really. One of the most Unique & Coolest! With this one for Spring’95! And, as I’ve already said – but almost have to say again here… It’s just too bad that Dan Morris didn’t make more super-creative Shirts for the Dead! The Second Decadenal Field Trip!!! Who know a’ Real-Deal’ Dead Shirt when you see-one – from close 45-Years Ago!!! & Rock & Roll History!! Probably best-described in’ short’ & in modern Dead Fan language as… ” Sunshine Daydream – Part II “!! And, as far as long-described goes? Well, trust me as I could go on All-Day! This was the long-waited ” Return ” of The Grateful Dead! To Veneta from the Legendary! 8/27/72 Veneta, Oregon Show… Some do feel that 8/27/72 was one-of, if not simply ” The ” most-important Dead Shows in the Band’s entire History! I mean – let’s put it this way… In’72 the Strat! Got a little bit of mercy (here & there) – but, in’82… And, quite frankly – I’ve ” outgrabbed ” my 8/28/82 Tapes a near 2-to-1 in ratio since having them both in my possession from way-back in the Late’80’s As from the late Set I China > Rider! This-Show is just flat-out Magical!! For that Other One!!! I’d even go as far as calling this Show a ” Top 5 ” of All! It’s just So-Nasty! – and the Boys are simply unwilling to not make this one count — Big-Time!!! The Grateful Dead’s Second Decadenal!! To the Magnificent & Glorious! Oregon Country Fairgrounds on 8/28/82!!! So, in other words – go grab Your! And load-up this Intense & Magical! & You tell Me!! If you know the Magical ” Oregon Country Fair ” Fairgrounds! Know where I’m coming from on the sheer Magic! Of this Dead Show! As you bet that this-one has roamed through those Magical Woods! – at least on this Planet!!! One of the Finest! & most widely-recognizable Grateful Dead Albums of all-time… Which dug nicely in to both the Electric & Acoustic depths of Grateful Dead Music. One of the Best! Grateful Dead Album Covers of all-time, designed by the Mouse-Kelley Studios – featuring an amazingly-artistic’ Ambigram’ wording on the image… Either ” American Beauty ” or — ” American Reality ” – depending naturally, on how you choose to see it. With of course, a Red Rose! Which on this Shirt – is really taken to the next-level, with the black background to highlight this image. There were actually a’ Series’ of these Grateful Dead Steal Your Face! XXV Shirts made for the 1990 Touring-Year, which featured the exact-same back side design on all, with a variety of different images on the front side. Shirts were issued in’ Black’ only, and this-one pretty much rose to the top in popularity above all the rest. With, naturally – the ” Wall Of Sound ” design image probably being a near equal favorite to the Dead Fan Faithful. Though, what is really just so-neat about this ” American Beauty ” design – is that is just meant so-much at the time, as the Band was headed like a’ Live’ Train-running-down-the-Track! At the back end of the Massive! And while all of the different ” XXV ” versions commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the Grateful Dead – this one also recognized ” American Beauty ” in its 20th-Year! Of existence & influence to the Music World. Is always in the eye of the beholder, but in a lot of ways… You could easily argue that this is one of the neatest & most-meaningful Grateful Dead Shirts of the then’ Modern’ 1990’s Grateful Dead Era – which obviously now is a few more decades behind us… A serious-piece of Grateful Dead! And Rock & Roll!! The Cumberland County Civic Center – in Portland, Maine! – the Hartford Civic Center – in Hartford, Connecticut! – the Providence Civic Center – in Providence, Rhode Island! – the Spectrum, in Philly, PA! – and the Hampton Coliseum, in Hampton, Virginia! So, if you were all present & accounted for – perfect on your East Coast G. And then you made the truck-out to Irvine, for the Irvine Meadows Ampitheatre Shows – in California! ? !! ? ! Deserve a ” Deadhead Gold Medal “, of some sort – no doubt at all. I mean you have just Got! To love the design on this one… You’ve got a’ Steal Your Face! Signifying the 2-night Irvine run – all by itself! And then you’ve got a map/scope! Narrowing in on the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic runs – listing each consecutive city on the Tour! Grateful Dead high-tech’80’s T-Shirt design, right? As this one is light-Years! Beyond your average & plain CBGB shirt, right?? ! But seriously, just take one look at the back of this near 30-Year Old treasure, and I think you’ll agree. Check out that mid-’80’s ” Grateful Dead ” font too? Looks very ” Greek Theatre ” style, well… At least to my eyes & mind! Heck, this Shirt looks like a tactical Tour-itinerary! Dang, and it never seemed quite this organized? Well, speaking for myself – that is… With my Tour Crew! Ahhh, the Good Ol” Daze’… But, as for the front of this Shirt.. The one & only ” GD ” Lightning-Bolt Heart Logo!!! A front & center symbol on the front of your G. Tee to show what you stand for… That’s right >>> Love! One of the Coolest Dead Shirts of all-time, at least to my eye – and Stellar! Condition too, might I add. Just check out the photos! Oh, and I almost forgot…. How about the Shirt-Color! This one only gets better & better. Kinda like this’86 Spring Tour too – believe it. Magic all over this Tour, and – this is the Pre-’87 Era too, if – you know what I mean, and where I’m coming from on that. Well, my personal moment of magic on this Tour – it’s an easy one. And hopefully, you too were there, or are at least in the know. The 2nd Night, of the 3-Night Spectrum run. Set I is nice, and you can just tell they are on it – and things might just get hot You know, one of ” Those ” nights… Alabama > Greatest opener – Dire Wolf > Rooster, Brown Eyed Women – Esau! – Ramble On Rose – El Paso… Nice & even among the Band, but – it does feel kinda light Bobby is hungry! Garcia calls for 1/2 Step Mississippi > Bobby drives in into Women Are Smarter! Garcia drops down a High Time, and then… Ace calls for the’ Bob Weir Show’, on a straight-up Power-house Sailor > Saint!!! This drives steadily into Drums… And then – ” It ” happened. Garcia finds the sweetest of sweet treble lines, after the calming of a ravaging Drums > Space! And it’s on >>> The Dew!!!!! And Fans, this Morning Dew is an explosion of Brilliance, Passion & Fire!!! And, I know it’s probably hard to believe, but this Dew was so unbelievably Hot! – that the Band? I kid you not. It was like a Walk-Off Home-Run! They must have just looked at each other, and realistically figured – well, who can top that? ! ?? Not even us, and we’re The Grateful Dead! Then, to’ continue’ to write Mid-’80’s Rock & Roll History on this Spectrum night, they come back for an Encore, and Ace just DESTROYS!!! Gonna Wait, Wait – Wait-Wait… Till’ The Midnight Hour!!!!!!! Some of the hottest-stuff-ever, by the Best-Band-Ever! Well Fans, so – here’s the Shirt! Enjoy this one, and wear it with a little-bit of that Mid-’80’s G. The print run was insanely low and you never see these! Size tag says Medium. Armpit to armpit is roughly 16″ and roughly 23″ from top shoulder to bottom. Showing signs of wear with some distress.
