Grateful Dead Shirt : Vintage Original (Genuine / Authentic) : 1982 : G. Art Design : Summer Tour’82 : (c) 1982 Rick Griffin / G. 1982 Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. Vintage-Original Grateful Dead ” Summer Tour’82 ” Tour Shirt – featuring the Historic! Rick Griffin designed G. As here we have – offered so proudly… Is one of the Ultimate! Grateful Dead Shirts of All-Time!! As with most Griffin Art, the photos do indeed say it all… But my-goodness is there just so-much rich History! Behind this sacred piece of Griffin-meets-Grateful Dead!!! Since the Late-’60’s, Rick Griffin truly established himself as a cut-above the rest – when it came to creative-vision, meeting raw talent, meeting the psychedelic-times… Of Improvisational Rock & Roll – in it’s prime era. Just think ” Aoxomoxoa ” – which, I’m quite certain you already were. Truly led to some of his best art works ever… Winged Skull ” obviously being one-of, if not ” The all-around Best!! When Griffin unleashed this mind-blowing and smile-exuding Smokin’ with Sunglasses! Winged-Skull Image at the beginning of 1982… It truly was a match made in Grateful-Dead-Heaven!!! Times were changing, not only for the Grateful Dead, but for the Live Rock & Roll World in general – as the’70’s chapter closed. And ironically – the emergence of this Quintessential! Grateful Dead image came-about at just-the-right time for the Dead… As this Early-’80’s 1982! Era was just around the time when the Dead & G. Began to take their Backstage Passes seriously – from an’ Artistic’ stand-point. And though these were obviously not commercially-available, it was this sort of’ complete’ vision which began to treat every piece & part of the Grateful Dead as an’ opportunity’ for Art! And especially – a little later on down the line. But, my point being… This here Griffin image was liked so-much by the Grateful Dead, that they choose to use this image on the front of their Backstage Passes for All! Of the Shows on their 1982 Fall Tour!!! On each Pass, the’ design’ was the same – this-one… All of the dates were Show-specific, and the Border-colors were all different… But, one-thing stayed the same — This! Rick Griffin image on the front of every Grateful Dead Fall Tour’82 Pass!! And, this was so-important historically – as very-soon after this, the Grateful Dead became the most inventive! Band in Rock & Roll History when it came to the Backstage Pass… Offering different-designs on virtually every Pass from 1984 to 1995! And this-image here on this Shirt Fans? In this awesome & artistic Rock-movement spearheaded by the Dead! I mean let’s face it… If you had to pick the say 5 or 10 ” Most-Important ” & ” Best-Ever ” Grateful Dead Shirt designs? This one is an absolute Must! In the middle of that conversation. And hey, let’s face it too… Summer Tour’82 was Mean!!! Jerry Garcia simply played some of his Greatest! On this Tour, and it is just so-incredibly ironic in hind-sight – as it really only appears to appeal to a certain sort of Dead Fan… The kind who like a little bit of Muscle! In their Rock & Roll… The kind that gets so-heavy – that it could darn-near border on heavy metal, when the Band was in that Hot-Zone! The Planets were properly aligned for the Good Ol”80’s! I mean hey, just listen to the China > Rider at Alpine Valley! And then too, do yourself the kind favor of also listening to ” The Dew “!!! Enjoy this piece of Grateful Dead and Rick Griffin Rock & Roll History! — as it is indeed one of the Very-Best! Grateful Dead Shirts, and Images of All-Time…..
