Rock art Masterpiece ” The Fiddler ” – as it was selected for the Cover Art of the 1975 Grateful Dead ” Come-Back / Return ” Album release… Garris created ” The Fiddler” design in 1974, and it was used immediately by the Grateful Dead in 1975 – and, not just on the Album… As it was used on T-Shirts! And all kinds of other assorted G. Turn the clock forward 20-Years… And Garris delivers This-One!!! In the Grateful Dead Touring-Year of 1994! So, my assumption is that this was an Art movement to commemorate the Legendary! 75 Fiddler design – as in this period, Garris actually delivered three (3) designs… A re-issue of the 1974/75 ” The Fiddler “, another new design ” Bertha & The Golden Bear ” (1995)… Of a design (1994)… A USA Top Hat Uncle Sam Skeleton & Roses – Playing a Doug Irwin style Electric Guitar!!! So yes, 20-Years later – and Philip Garris is still! Delivering Rock Art of Legendary! For the Good Ol’ Grateful Dead!!! I mean hey, at the end of 1994 & 1995 for the Grateful Dead – times became a little bit difficult… But, as I’ll distinctly never-ever forget at the time – there were’ fresh’ Art designs coming out at this magnitude & importance for the Grateful Dead. And, I just knew! That these were still indeed very-special times… For the Band, for the Artists, and for the loyal Dead Fans! And, here we are now 30-Years! After the fact, and… My goodness – I was right. In my personal opinion, this’94 Garris design here – stands right up there at the Top! I believe this’94 Shirt was only issued on a Black Shirt, and on this way-cool Dead Red! Providing, as the photos very-well show – a nothing short of Stellar! Background & contrast for this Amazing! One of the Rarest! And, without question – One of the Best!!! Tag Size / Brand : Extra Large (X-Large / XL) / Cronies (100% Cotton / Made In USA) Pit-to-Pit = 25″ Length = 28″ As this is a vintage collectible shirt – here are the issues that stand out to my eye upon very close inspection. Grateful Dead Shirt : Blues For Allah!!! Phillip Garris 1974 Artwork for the 1975 Album Cover! Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. (GDP /’87) : Very-Rare!!!! 1987 Grateful Dead Productions Shirt! 1974 ” Blues For Allah ” Grateful Dead 1975 Album Cover Art! – by Phillip Garris!! A Tried & True G. All Dead Fans are mostly on the same page in regard to the importance of the “Blues For Allah” album. This was the Grateful Dead’s “Comeback” after all, following a group hiatus – which nearly led to a complete dis-banding! Oh my, what would we all have done throughout the Late 70’s & 1980’s? ! ? Well, thankfully that was not the case – however, as Grateful Dead “images” go – it is tough to beat this one: “Blues For Allah” – is right up there with “Steal Your Face” & “Bertha” Skeleton & Roses. However, those were invented during the “Golden” era of the band, while this image on the other hand represented “magnificent change & transformation” for The Grateful Dead. I can only imagine some of the fan-reactions when they first heard their “Allah” album – wow! And especially being there to see it performed “Live” during those so very few & precious 1975 chances!! The funny thing is, probably just about the exact same thing happened a couple years later when they also heard “Terrapin Station”! ? ! These were interesting times indeed, and in my opinion this is the quintessential image from this way-beyond exciting time for the Grateful Dead. And as for this Shirt itself? This is a Shirt made by Grateful Dead Productions 1987! You bet Dead Fans… This one now clocks-in at over 25-Years old! ? ! Where does the time-go? ! A true’80’s-vintage time-capsule treasure here, representing the one & only… And “Grateful Dead” on the back, rightfully! … Just plain, black & to the point. This amazing shirt just about says it all… Straight from the’80’s, with the classic Screen Stars tag too – in Size Large!
