It is definitely important for me to note that this Official 1985 GDM Shirt is still Brand New! Never worn, never washed – and ” Collected-Only “. And as for the design itself? Well, if you were on Grateful Dead Tour in the Mid/Late’80’s, or even Early’90’s… Then you might recognize this Amazingly Clever art design from one of your Grateful Dead Tickets! It was a fancy G. Used by GDP on ticket stock from 1985/86 through 1993/94 (approximately). But, as for the Shirt! You’re looking at it… 1985, and 1985 Only! (C) 1985 Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. Played Live by the Dead, for the first time in 5-Years since 1979! Played as the ” Encore ” on the 7/13 opening-night Show, as a shooting-star fell – and was seen somewhere up above in outer-space – between the Greek Theatre, and the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, naturally… I actually went to Cal as a student – in a time (and galaxy) far-far away… And can definitely say this : no ” campus ” anywhere! Has an Outdoor Venue/Music Space just quite-like the Greek Theatre. It has all of the history, nostalgia, and all of that yes – but it is an unmatched ” Music-Experience ” when it comes to the topic of Outdoor’ Open-Air’ Venues. Nothing like it, really. The Frost Stanford U. As is the Cuthbert in Eugene kind-of U of O? But when you get down there on the concrete-pit of The Greek! The seats (benches), or even on the grass no pun intended – Ha! The amps are pumping & thumping… It’s actually insane just how-good it hits you – as it must be something to do with the concrete barrier wall behind the stage? Just because it’s the one & only… And as for this treasure of a G. Completely-fantastic, as I can actually say that the photos (just about) do it the visual-justice it rightfully deserves. And also, attention to all of the ” Collector’s ” out there too… And, at least in my own opinion – the ” Aqua ” version is certainly quite ” Mid-’80’s ” in its look, whereas this-here ” Dark Blue ” one? It is the True ” Classic “!!! At least to me, and my… ” Eyes Of The World ” – Hah! Actually stage-wore a ” Greek ” Shirt at the Legendary! 85 Summer Tour Riverbend (Ohio) Show! Much-better known to many Fans as the ” 1985 ” Show selection for ” 30 Trips Around The Sun “! And yep, you betcha… Bobby cut the sleeves & collar off on his Yeah Bobby!! – but, you know… That’s just Ace! Maybe not the best idea to do with this one here? But, you know – as after all… Rock & Roll is… Without any shadow of a doubt… Shirts ever-issued, and I think that I will likely always feel that way… Until the end of time. Tour-Shirt for the’91 Spring Tour-Opening Shows! And quite possibly too – those from the Mid-Atlantic! Or maybe-even’ The MD’!!! Are very well familiar with This! 1991 Spring Tour Venue-Specific Tour Shirt for the Tour-Opening! At the Capital Centre – in Landover, Maryland!!! – 3/17/1991 – 3/18/1991 – 3/20/1991 & 3/21/1991!!!! As, it is indeed the Original! Issue & Version – that started them all! Patrick’s Day Shirts – with the same’ front’ design as this-one just think… Philly Spectrum 3/17/92 run! – and also Rosemont / Chicago 3/17/93 run! The Spectrum Spring’92 Shirt actually had a Stanley Mouse’ Jester’ design on the shirt back… And, the Spring’93 Chicago Shirt had a similar ” Smokin’ Leprechaun ” on the Shirt back. But, it is indeed This! 1991 Spring Tour 4-Show run at The Cap Center! – which spawned them all!! And, even more importantly… If you caught any of these Amazing! 91 Spring Tour Cap Centre! Shows from this Spring’91 run (3/17/91, 3/18/91, 3/20/91 & 3/21/91) – and you’ve been hunting for a Shirt! From this one for a long-long time. Well Fans, here indeed is THE!!! Shirt – made Venue-Specific for the whole darn run! And as for this Cap Centre run’ Musically’? ! ? Well where do I even start? ! As I was indeed Lucky! Enough kinda like this Smokin’ Leprechaun! Of these Cap Centre / Maryland Dead Shows – and… Of yes, the very-proud home of The Washington Capitals! Wow – as I mean the Band was Red-Hot!!! – and, like most all of this’91 Spring Tour… They were bringing the Heat! For the fired-up Dead Fans night in & night out – with some way-special! On the very 1st night – 3/17/91 on St. , which was also the’ Tour-Opening Night’! Of this East Coast’91 Spring Tour — Garcia & the Boys decided to deliver the very-first-even Reuben & Cherise! Played live by the Grateful Dead!!! And, let me tell you – if you weren’t there… It wasn’t quite the Explosion! Of the 3/14/90 Loose Lucy Show – but, it was still nice & up there. And then, a Red-Hot! Night #2 (3/18/91) delivered a Smoker! Of a Playin’ > Uncle John’s > Playin’! And Night #3 (3/20/91) delivered not only a Cookin’! Other One out of Space! But, it also brought back Might As Well! For the 1st time since 1988! And, last but not least – on 3/21/91… The Band opened Set II with a Killer! Victim > Scarlet > Fire… That then segued right into a Stir It Up Jam!!! Just thinking about all of these G. Moments of Live’ Maryland’ Magic! Makes them feel like just Yesterday! – but Hey Now!! ? – as this is now 35-Years-Ago!!! As time does fly for certain. I saw so many G. Shows & J. G. B. At the Good Ol’ Cap Centre, and the Band Always! Big-time – for the seriously Loyal! Hot-Bed of Dead Fans!! Saint Patrick’s Day Shirt for All-Four Shows!!!! – at the Capital Centre in Maryland! On the 1991 Spring Tour!!! As all I can say is that I hope You! Also got to see a piece of this action, if not the entire 4-Show run! Here well over a’ Quarter-of-a-Century’ later? ! ? – when I pop these! Soundboards into the Nak… I feel every-bit as ” Lucky ” as this Smokin’ Leprechaun!!! From the New Year’s Eve! – designed by Tony Reonegro!! – and Fans of the most Grateful! And Rock & Roll Art… As offered here indeed is the Super-Artistic, Ultra-Rare & Beyond-Amazing! For 1980’s Grateful Dead – and Presto! – just like that… Here we come 1990’s! And my oh my… Were the Grateful Dead on Fire!!! Period in the midst, and arguably the overall Best! The Boys had ever been… In the opinion of many Dead Fans. So, with the occasion at hand – Reonegro well-knew it was time to deliver a Huge! Image for the Band… And my goodness did he Deliver! In the fantastic form of the Grateful Dead ” 25th Anniversary ” Top Hat & Sunglasses… And keep in mind too – on the timeline here, for sure – as at this specific point in time… Reonegro had yet to even begin delivering his Amazingly-Artistic line of Backstage Passes for the Grateful Dead… As his 1st ” Puzzle Pass ” didn’t even debut until months later – on the Massive! Just check out the photos provided, my fellow Dead Fans and Rock & Roll Art Lovers – as this is one that Purely! Grateful Dead ” New Year’s ” Shirts of all-time… But I also consider it to be one of the overall Coolest!! ” Dead Shirts ” of all-time. I mean after all – this is an’ early’ G. Reonegro we are talking about here who started doing Shirt Designs for the Dead right around the 1988 Spring Tour… And, by the end of 1989 — This!!! Talk about a quickly Artistic learning curve – wow… Giving the Dead Fans what they want, and in pure Late-’80’s & Early-’90’s style & fashion! What makes this Shirt really-really neat, rare & highly-collectible in the Rock & Roll Vintage World – is that this is a design where Reonegro went with a ” Graffiti ” theme in the concept – making the world ” Grateful ” and the background design… Just look simply amazing to the Rock & Roll and Art eye — a Stunning! Effort by Antonio Reonegro here… Skeleton would later even make it on to some Grateful Dead Backstage Passes for the 1990 Summer & Fall Tours – but, the design form was different, without the Graffiti style… So, naturally – this was the 1st & the Debut! Sure makes this Fan miss his Oaktown Shows… And my Good Ol”80’s &’90’s Grateful Dead too – right smack dab in Oaktown!!! Pit to Pit = 21″ Length = 27″ As this is a heavily used vintage-worn collectible rock shirt, here are the issues that stand out to my eye upon very close inspection : >>> three (3) small-medium sized holes; one (1) located on left front sleeve, and two (2) located on shirt back – near collar area (please see photos/photos #8 & #11). >>> stains and discoloration fading spots on shirt material fabric (please see photos/photos #9 & #10).
